I plan to continue advocating for the unique needs of women and children throughout the world whose circumstances require much greater support. One of the major sources of our spiritual consciousness is found in our earliest life — the benevolent oneness of existence in our mother’s womb. Then, as an infant, we experience the freshness of seeing, feeling and touching the world for the first time, the immediate physical presence of our sense and our own needs. Reawaking the intimacy, recapturing a spontaneous unbroken trust in what we know and feel, is essential to finding our spiritual ground in later practice.

No longer can we shift the responsibility for any solution into the hands of those over whom we have little or no control. It’s time to fix our gaze where our own deepest attitudes are formed. This is where, as the Greeks would say, a genuine metanoia or profound change must first take place. Genuine renewal is needed within ourselves if we are to be empowered to build a culture of life.
